DALLAS—The Texas Golf Association on Monday announced tickets are available for sale for the Nov. 1 Breaking 100 Gala at Houston Country Club. The yearlong Breaking 100 campaign began in January and is a celebration of a century of Women’s Golf in Texas. It’s also a fundraiser for the TGA Foundations’ Women’s Initiatives, such as college scholarships and girls’ junior golf programs.

The Breaking 100 agenda incorporates several elements, such as “100 Holes of Women’s Competitions,” “100 Lessons for Women and Girls” and the popular “100 Texas Women” blog. It all culminates Nov. 1 with the Breaking 100 Gala at Houston CC, a dinner and panel discussion with industry leaders. This year’s WTGA State Amateur Championship will be the 95th edition; it begins July 26 at historic Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas. Every surviving WTGA State Amateur Champion has been invited to Breaking 100 Gala, and the all-star panel includes four Hall of Fame members:

Sandra Haynie, a World Golf Hall of Famer who won the 1974 U.S. Women’s Open, two WTGA State Amateur Championships and 43 LPGA Tour titles.

Carol Mann, a World Golf Hall of Famer who won the 1965 U.S. Women’s Open Championship and 38 LPGA Tour events.

Sandra Palmer, a Texas Golf Hall of Fame member who won the 1975 U.S. Women’s Open  and 1963 WTGA State Amateur Championship.

Kathy Whitworth, a World Golf Hall of Famer with six professional major titles, a record 88 LPGA Tour wins and seven-time LPGA Tour Player of the Year.

Individual tickets for the Breaking 100 Gala are $200, and reserved tables for eight are $2,000 and include an autographed Breaking 100 flag. For more information and to make a purchase, click here. All proceeds from the Breaking 100 program benefit the TGA Foundation’s Women’s Initiatives.

The gala is sponsored in part by a contribution from Lyda Hill. In addition to her fame as a world-class philanthropist, Hill is a past-President of the WTGA and a three-time finalist at the WTGA State Amateur Championship. A prominent amateur in the late 1960s and ’70s, Hill also was a course ratings expert and formed the first course rating committee serving women in Texas. She was featured on March 8 in the 100 Texas Women blog.
