The Texas Golf Association launched its Fun Golf Initiative in 2015 in order to engage a broader spectrum of the TGA Membership with a series of one-day events that are less serious, more dynamic and more fun for players of all ages and handicap ranges.
Open to men and women golfers, these laid-back Fun Golf outings have been a big hit with TGA Members and their guests. Each year, more and more recreational golfers are signing up for Fun Golf Play Days. It’s easy to see why these events are so popular because one, they have a good time and two, they get to play great courses they may not otherwise get to experience, such as TPC San Antonio, Bentwater Yacht & CC, Beaumont CC, Onion Creek Club, Walden on Lake Conroe and Mira Vista CC, to name just a few.
Hosting Fun Golf Play Days can help our Member Clubs generate additional revenue through green fees, cart fees, range balls, food and beverage and merchandise sales. There are also numerous additional benefits beyond the immediate positive financial impact.
Fun Golf Play Days are a great way to attract new players to a club or course. The relaxed and positive environment of a Play Day is a perfect bonding experience opportunity for existing members. It’s also a tool to encourage a new demographic of players to see what a club or course has to offer.
“Partnering with the TGA on Fun Golf Play Days helps us generate new and repeat customers, which equals increased revenue,” said Clayton Derr, Operations Manager for Tenison Park Golf Course in Dallas. “As a public course with no membership, it’s a great way of utilizing the TGA Membership as a way to promote our facility. Finally, but perhaps most importantly, seeing the decline in competitive golf and a shift towards more fun and social groups, it’s essential to offer these types of events. The TGA staff makes it easy and does a great job on the day of the events reflecting well on our facility.”
Other potential benefits of hosting a Fun Golf Play Day include:
Build Brand Recognition – TGA Fun Golf events promotes your facility and helps people connect with your brand. Plus, golfers generally bring others in tow, so your reach will extend as event attendees bring their friends.
Showcase Your Venue – Have a facility that’s fantastic for hosting events? Staging a Fun Golf event allows you to present your venue in just the right light.
Make Face-To-Face Connections – Connecting with golfers on a personal level can have a big impact on their engagement. These important face-to-face connections are rare in the virtual world, and can really solidify someone’s interest in your facility.
Have Fun – That’s the whole reason behind the Fun Golf Initiative. What could be better than seeing everyone have a great time? If people enjoy themselves at your club or course, they’ll be back for more.
