GEORGETOWN – Carolyn Creekmore of Dallas scored a wire-to-wire victory at the 2017 Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship on a sunny, breezy Wednesday at Berry Creek Country Club. Creekmore’s final round of 6-over-par 78 gave her a three-day total of 5-over 221. The nine-shot victory accounted for her seventh Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship title.
Creekmore started her round with a par followed by three straight bogeys on a soggy course, as the clouds opened up the previous evening. Finishing with a 4-over par on the front side, she was able to birdie the 14th hole, a short par 4. Posting a final round 78 sealed her victory.
Camm Dougherty of Corpus Christi won Flight 1 by three stroke over Anna Schultz of Heath. Dougherty final round of 2-over par 74 included two birdies on the front nine and a double bogey on the long dog-leg right par 4. With a bogey on hole #10, Dougherty finished strong with eight consecutive pars.

This is the first year Berry Creek Country Club has held the Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship. The 18-hole facility is nestled on what was once Logan Ranch. The course features water on seven holes, strategically placed bunkers, and undulated Bermuda grass greens, making it a challenging and fun layout that will test the skills of the senior players in Texas.
The final event in this year’s women’s competitions is the Women’s Texas Pinehurst, which will be contested on November 6 – 7 at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort in Boerne.
The Texas Golf Association would also like to thank the membership, maintenance, food & beverage and professional staff at Berry Creek Country Club for hosting this year’s Championship. For complete results, please click here.
