Two Teams Lead 2018 Texas Stableford Handicap Championship
Kerrville – Jamey Friesleben of Montgomery and Russell Schroeder of LaPorte share the early lead overall with Mark Stucks of Burleson and John Wilson of Arlington at the 2018 Texas Stableford Championship at Riverhill Country Club.
Friesleben and Schroeder finished with 63 points, six points over their quota. With a birdie each and 12 pars, Friesleben and Schroeder are leading the Nelson Flight. They are followed closely by Joey Hall and Michael Loftin of Katy, with 56 points, three points over their quota.
Stucks and Wilson finished with 50 points, also six points over their quota. Stucks had 13 pars on the day while his partner, Wilson, had 8 pars. They lead the Kite Flight by two points over Brian Jaks of Brenham and Joshua Arterbury of The Woodlands.
In the Hogan Flight, Dickie Williams and Steve Allums are atop the leaderboard tied with John Lamey of San Antonio and Kurt Cunov of Shavano Park. Both teams posted impressive scores, respectively, of 65 points, and 62 points, three points over their quota.
In the Crenshaw Flight, Korby Keeney and Tony Gann, both of Mansfield, scored 44 points and shot one under their quota for the first round. Trailing by one point are Winn Keeney of Keller and Ron Keeney of Granbury.
Riverhill Country Club is a Byron Nelson-Joe Finger creation, made in 1974. It brings a challenging test of golf and has been rated in the top fifty golf courses in Texas year in and year out. Highly known for not only its scenic views, but also for Byron Nelson saying when asked which golf course he would prefer to play, “This might surprise you, but I would pick Riverhill Country Club.”
