Briefly: Charles White continued his hot play as the top seed in the Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play at Shadow Hawk Golf Club in Richmond. White won his first match in the Round of 32 Friday morning 1 up before advancing to the Quarterfinals after a 4 and 3 win Friday afternoon. White, along with the remaining quarterfinalists, head into another marathon day Saturday with the Semifinals to be contested after lunch.

Golf Course: Opened in 1999, the award-winning course at Shadow Hawk was designed by Rees Jones. The 7,207-yard, par-72 layout stretches across 274 acres of pristine land and features a great variety of shape and length of holes, ample fairways, artistic bunkering and small, elevated greens. In contention: Friday’s matches resulted in seeds 2-5 bowing out after second-seed Bart Worthing lost in the Round of 16 to Anthony Estorga 3 and 2. Third seed Kevin Doskocil fell to John Dowdall 1 up in the Round of 32. Fourth seed Randy Lance lost his match against Geoff Heller 4 and 3 in Friday afternoon’s Round of 16. Twelfth seed Jake Istnick defeated fifth seed Shaun Helmle 3 and 2 in the Round of 16.
 
What’s Next: Quarterfinal Matches begin at 7:30 a.m., and the Semifinals take place tomorrow afternoon starting at 12:00 p.m.
