Briefly: Toby Zeringue and Shawn Stoute, 2019 U.S. Four-Ball participants, came out firing on all cylinders in the first regional championship of the 2020 Texas Golf Association season. The duo posted an 11-under par opening round 61 in the South Four-Ball to take a five stroke lead heading into Sunday’s final round. Zeringue and Stoute recorded 11 birdies during their bogey-free round.

Golf Course: The Clubs of Kingwood is located in Kingwood, just northeast of downtown Houston. The facilities feature four 18-hole courses. This weekend’s championship is being played on the Bruce Litell designed Lake Course. Today’s round was contested at 6,832 yards with a par of 72.
Weather: The first round was delayed 30 minutes this morning due to frost. Today’s high reached 62 degrees with sunny skies and variable winds out of the southeast.
In contention: Three teams are tied and five strokes back of the leaders at 6-under par 66: Todd Albert/Kevin Liberto, Josh Ketter/Bryan Mitchell and David Ortego/Howard Culley. In solo fifth place is the duo of William Shock/Steve Moran at 5-under par 67. Eight teams are in a tie for sixth place at 4-under par 68.
What’s Next: Final round tee times start tomorrow at 8:00 AM off both No. 1 & 10 tees. There will be a brief awards presentation for the winners following play.
